I recently purchased a number of pieces of Performance Furnishings office furniture through Davis Office Furniture in the Spokane Valley, Washington. I have been asked to write a testimonial regarding this purchase and I am pleased to do so.
First off, the service provided by Davis Office was first rate. Laurie, my salesperson, was extremely easy to work with, had a good knowledge of the product line, and did everything she could to make sure that I received the pieces that I needed for my office configuration and that I was happy with the purchase. Most of the items I needed were not available in Spokane. Those items were quickly shipped from warehouses on the West Coast (Portland and Seattle) and arrived within a week. The delivery staff was very courteous and efficient and took special care so as to not cause damage to either the furniture, or my home (which I truly appreciated – great job guys!). Overall, I would enthusiastically recommend Davis Office Furniture to anyone contemplating the purchase of laminate office furniture.
The furniture itself is a laminate-covered pressboard. Generally, that would conjure up images of one of those flimsy “build-it-yourself” entertainment centers you’d purchase at a discount chain. Nothing could be further from the truth! The Professional Furnishings line is constructed from 1” thick boards which have been finished with a heavy, high-quality laminate. I was extremely impressed! In many ways, it is almost a carbon copy of the discontinued Dania “Network” line of office furniture; extremely thick, well-built, sturdy, and surprisingly attractive. However, Professional Furnishings has made a number of improvements to the basic design that sets their furniture apart.
In the “good old days”, manufacturers would simply drill holes in the wood panels into which the cam locks were screwed and occasionally you would either strip a hole while installing a cam lock, or screw a cam lock in at an angle (I speak from experience!). However, Professional Furnishings has drilled metal inserts into the furniture where the cam locks should go which simplifies the assembly process and makes for a very strong finished product.
Also, all of the filing cabinets use drawer rails which allow the drawers to fully extend. That is a very nice feature which I fully appreciate every time I have to get at the “Z” file at the back of the drawer.
While the instructions were a little weak, the pieces were very easy to assemble and required little effort to complete. Do keep in mind that some of the pieces are extremely heavy and a second set of hands would be helpful for assembling larger items.
Overall: Great product and great service at a very reasonable price. Thank you Davis Office Furniture!
